Telemedicine is a medical technology used by a wide range of medical professionals (family medical doctors, radiologists, cardiologists, and other specialists) to deliver healthcare services through use of video/audio communication, and/or text-messaging using mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers.

You can choose from the list of hundreds of doctors in the Diaspora offering virtual consultations:

  • • Go to African Diaspora Doctors homepage
  • • Go to the search box and enter the specialist you're interested in
  • • Filter results by culture, language, gender, or location
  • • Make your selection from the results

Once you’ve chosen a doctor, you can book a virtual consultation:

  • • Click the "Book Now" button on the doctor’s profile https://africandiasporadoctors.org/search-doctor.php
  • • Indicate whether you’re interested in a virtual or in-person consultation
  • • Check the health provider’s calendar for available appointment
  • • Select and confirm date and time

After submitting your request, you'll get a confirmation. On the day of your appointment, your selected healthcare provider will contact you for your one-on-one video/audio consultation.

Cost of your appointment is determined by the doctor or healthcare provider. Verify if provider is within your healthcare plan’s network and if your insurance reimburses telehealth services.

You'll need a computer or mobile phone with a working camera. Strong internet connection is also required.

Your doctor will not mind, so long as you are comfortable having your family members join you in your consultation.
